Academics

The DGS Middle School Program is designed to cultivate intellectual curiosity, personal growth, and leadership through a dynamic, bilingual learning environment rooted in our core values of Community, Character, and Cognition. With a strong emphasis on Project-Based Learning, Experiential Education, and Service Learning, students engage in meaningful, hands-on experiences that deepen their understanding of academic concepts while fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and global awareness. As a standards-based school, we prioritize student mastery of the Common Core, AERO, and NGSS standards, ensuring a rigorous and globally aligned education.
At DGS, learning is active, engaging, and student-driven, with real-world applications, outdoor education, and interdisciplinary projects encouraging students to explore, create, and collaborate. Through service initiatives and leadership roles in clubs, student council, and school-wide projects, students develop Character by taking responsibility for their actions, demonstrate Cognition through deep inquiry and problem-solving, and strengthen Community by working together toward shared goals.
A cornerstone of the Middle School experience is our Advisory Program, which nurtures both academic mastery and socio-emotional well-being. Advisory sessions help students develop essential metacognitive skills, fostering self-awareness, goal-setting, and emotional intelligence—critical tools for success in school and beyond. With personalized mentorship and a strong support system, students build the resilience, independence, and integrity needed to navigate adolescence and prepare for the challenges of high school.
