SPIRIT WEEK 2026 | A WEEK FULL OF DELIGHTFUL SURPRISES

By DGS Office

Sunday 01-11-2026

Amid the busy rhythm of the school year, Spirit Week offered students a welcome break from their usual routines, a chance to recharge and enjoy some lighthearted moments with friends and teachers. Nothing too extravagant or over the top, just a week filled with laughter, creativity, and the warmth of the DGS community.

Each day brought a different theme and a little something to look forward to. From the cozy comfort of Pajama Day and the laid-back style of Denim Day to the wonderfully unexpected creations of No Backpack Day, when regular backpacks were replaced by frying pans, birdcages, plastic tub, cart, suitcases, and just about anything else students could think of. Past Generations Day took everyone on a trip back in time, with students putting their own youthful spin on styles from generations past.

Adding to the excitement was the “2026 Magnificent Mystifying Murder Mystery,” a homicide case created by the DGS Student Council (STUCO). As clues gradually emerged throughout the week, Advisory classes came together to discuss theories, piece together evidence, and try to crack the case. Who would have thought a fictional murder mystery could bring so much excitement to the entire school?

The week came to a close with Halloween, bringing even more energy and laughter to DGS. The familiar wooden classroom doors became a highlight of the hallways, with each Advisory class bringing its own creative ideas to life. Decorations ranged from classic Halloween themes like Trick or Treat and Stranger Things to spooky concepts inspired by Vietnamese folklore and supernatural traditions. Even inside jokes and memes featuring classmates, or the dreaded Grade 8 math equations, found their way into the decorations, giving everyone plenty of reasons to stop, take a closer look, laugh, or simply admire the creativity.

And of course, Halloween at DGS wouldn't be complete without our much-loved Halloween catwalk! The costumes didn't need to be elaborate to make an impression. A little creativity and a good sense of humor went a long way. The famous Mona Lisa seemed to have stepped right out of the Louvre in Paris, the four travelers from Journey to the West made an appearance, and there was even an adorable cockroach crew alongside the familiar duo Doraemon and Nobita. Students and teachers alike dressed up and got into character, with each appearance bringing a new surprise and more than a few moments that had the whole school roaring with laughter.

Looking back, what made Spirit Week special wasn't simply the creative costumes or the fun activities, but the joy of sharing those experiences together. From students making the most of their breaks to decorate classroom doors, to lunchtime discussions over mystery clues, to the excitement of dressing up, friendships and connections grew naturally through it all.

This is also how Community, one of DGS's core values, comes to life in everyday school experiences. It can be found in everyone's willingness to join in, in the shared moments that bring students from different grades together, and in the sense of belonging that comes from knowing there is a place for everyone and a little joy for each person to share.

A special thank you goes to our DGS Student Council (STUCO) for the thought, care, and effort they put into planning and bringing the entire week to life. Their initiative and creativity, together with the enthusiasm of our students and teachers, made this Spirit Week a warm, joyful celebration filled with shared memories.

The week may be over, but the laughter, the stories, and the sense of togetherness will stay with us, adding another lovely chapter to our shared life at DGS.
