"Mission Possible" - The first play of DGS's Drama Club

On the last Friday of May (30/05), the DGS Drama Club officially premiered its very first English play titled “Mission Possible.” This marked a special milestone - not only for students passionate about acting but also as a meaningful highlight in the journey of learning and creative exploration at DGS.

“Mission Possible” is a licensed script written by Craig Sodaro, blending spy fiction with humor. In this story, “James Bond” transforms into “James Blond,” and missions that seem impossible become possible thanks to the creativity and wit of DGS’s very own agents.

The production was the fruit of 6 months' dedication, nurtured with persistence and care by Ms. Kate, the English teacher, and 30 students, including actors, stage crew, and technical support. Together, they rehearsed for weeks, adapting around a busy school schedule to ensure every detail, from lines and props to effects fit seamlessly when the stage lights came on.

Some scenes in the play

“Mission Possible” was more than just a stage performance; it was an open classroom where knowledge from multiple subjects came together. English played a central role, helping students develop their pronunciation, expression, and body language. Art contributed through the design of props, posters, and costumes. Literature served as the backbone, deepening students’ understanding of the characters and allowing them to connect with the storyline emotionally. In addition, students strengthened vital life skills such as teamwork, time management, and problem-solving - lessons that go far beyond textbooks.

I have noticed many students becoming more expressive, more confident, and better at handling situations on stage. They have also grown to be more responsible and disciplined - memorizing all those lines and putting together a full play is no small feat. I’m also incredibly happy to see how they have formed strong bonds and continue to support each other in and out of the club.” Ms. Kate shared.

The play ended with thunderous applause from parents and teachers, with tears in eyes and warm embraces all around. For many, this was their first time performing on a big stage, acting in front of a live audience, or supporting the technical side of a production - but together, they created something polished, vibrant, and full of heart.

“Mission Possible” is a vivid testament to the DGS students’ spirit of courage, experimentation, and creativity. The success of this play is not measured in hours or minutes, but in the journey of breaking limits, learning, and growing together. It will be a lasting milestone in the artistic journey of the Drama Club - and a strong foundation for many more plays to come at DGS.
