A SPECIAL JOY AT DGS: HÀ VŨ DIỆP ANH (K1) AND HER JOURNEY TO THE NEW YORK TIMES

Hà Vũ Diệp Anh (K1), founder of the DGS Media Club - a young girl known for her calm presence, thoughtful mind, and a gentle love for words has just shared with us a truly special piece of news: Her letter has been awarded as a Honorable Mention in The New York Times Open Letter Contest, a global writing competition for high school students! Out of nearly 10,000 entries worldwide, Diệp Anh’s letter was selected among the Top 60 outstanding submissions.

For her open letter, Diệp Anh chose to write a letter in English about fathers who live far from their children. Inspired by her own family’s story and driven by deep empathy for friends whose parents cannot always be by their side, she crafted a heartfelt piece that touched readers across borders. She dedicated two whole weeks to carefully refining each word and sentence, turning the letter into a moving expression of emotion, understanding, and love.
“Fathers, whether you’re across the street or an ocean away, it’s not proximity that shapes a child’s heart but presence that matters… Be the voice they call home.”

Writing, for Diệp Anh, isn’t just a hobby, it’s a way of nurturing her future aspirations. She devotes one to two hours a day to writing, quietly practicing patience, discipline, and the art of reflection.

What touched us most wasn’t just the recognition, but the way she shared her joy: with her parents first, then her teachers at DGS. It’s the kind of small, beautiful gesture that reminds us why this community means so much.

Thank you, Diệp Anh, for giving the DGS community such a beautiful story, a story of dedication, gratitude, and the quiet strength of simple things. And thank you for bringing the name DGS to one of the world’s leading newspapers - in such a tender and meaningful way
