The DGS Middle School MUN Conference officially concluded after two inspiring days on January 21-22th, welcoming 104 student delegates across 7 committees and featuring 717 speeches.

The conference opened with an inspiring talk by a special guest speaker, Ambassador Nguyễn Phương Nga - Vietnam’s first female Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. Through her warm and engaging reflections on diplomacy and empowerment, students were introduced to real-life stories from the world of international relations and encouraged to believe in their own voices, roles, and ability to make a positive impact in an ever-changing world.

The atmosphere quickly came alive as delegates stepped into committee sessions. Representing different countries, students researched, debated, and proposed solutions to global challenges. From protecting victims of online harassment and cyberbullying in the ASEAN committee, preserving minority languages and cultures in UNESCO to strengthening disaster risk reduction and emergency relief efforts in vulnerable regions in UNDRR, this year’s topics were closely connected to real-world issues and well suited to middle school learners. As a result, complex ideas such as regional cooperation and global responsibility became accessible, allowing MUNers to demonstrate thoughtful analysis and confident perspectives.

Guided by their Chairs, committee sessions were focused, respectful, and highly engaging. The enthusiasm of Grade 6 students experiencing MUN for the first time blended naturally with the growing confidence and maturity of Grades 7-8 students, creating a balanced and supportive discussion environment. Many students continued working after school hours and even stayed up late after the first conference day to refine their draft resolutions for the following sessions. Despite starting from different levels of experience, all participants demonstrated strong commitment, initiative, and responsibility.

Reflecting on the experience, Trần Hoàng Lam Khê - Best Delegate, ASEAN 2 (Grade 6) shared “DGSMUN’26 was a mix of excitement and nervousness for me. Everything felt new and interesting, and each session introduced experiences I had never had before.”

DGS would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the DGSMUN Club, Mr. Lee, all committee Chairs, the secretariat team, media and logistics teams, and every delegate for working together to create a meaningful, professional, and inspiring DGSMUN’26.
