DGS has been buzzing with excitement these days as one event follows another. January 27, the Social Studies Festival took place in a lively atmosphere filled with colorful displays and fun, hands-on activities.

The journey began with Economics, where a simulated trading floor transformed students into investors, analyzing strategies and deciding where to place their capital. The Politics section then took visitors on a world tour through five country booths - the UK, Russia, China, Mexico, and Nigeria - where they explored systems of power, sampled cultural highlights, and took short quizzes to discover different leadership styles.

History and Geography came to life through interactive stations such as a Shark Tank for ancient inventions and short performances reenacting life in the Medieval period. The festival space was constantly energized with Quizizz challenges, Bingo games, flag-guessing activities, spontaneous rap battles, and even a “match-the-philosopher” activity. These creative formats helped make complex social science concepts feel approachable, natural, and easy to understand.

Mr. Liam Tran, Social Studies teacher shared “I believe this festival is a meaningful opportunity for students across grade levels to connect and inspire one another. Instead of traditional paper-based tests, assessing students through hands-on projects allows them to confidently demonstrate their understanding. I hope students come away realizing that Social Studies is not distant or abstract, but exciting and deeply connected to everyday life.”
